Rev. Robb Hawks

Robb Hawks is a prolific writer.  Among his credits are over 40 television screen plays that have been produced in numerous languages and broadcast to over a 100 million people.  Robb also has written and produced numerous live dramas that have been viewed by tens of thousands.

Robb loves to create and invent.  If you ever catch him staring off into space he is actually processing and inventing.  This process began in his childhood and was honed while commuting 1 1/2 hours to school and back.  He would design things in his mind and after he had built it, torn it apart, and rebuilt it a dozen or so times, then he would finally put it down onto paper.

He is often asked "when do you have time to come up with all your ideas?"  The answer is simple.  His mind is always working.  Those 15 minute commutes to the office and home each day are part of his "invention" time.

This creative streak is not limited to contraptions or devices.  Robb also does business consulting.  He has helped a number of businessmen in his church either start  or dramatically improve their business.  Additionally he has freely helped other churches resolve problems or develop custom solutions to their growth needs.

PATENTED INVENTOR

Jay Ault was one of the children that grew up under Robb's children's ministry. They met up again when Robb returned from the mission field for a brief stay stateside during the summer of 1999.  Jay had a problem.  He had started a safety company installing temporary fall protection on construction sites. The equipment he was using was expensive and had design flaws.  Robb suggested that Jay manufacture and use his own equipment.  Jay challenged Robb to design something better than what was available.  Three weeks later his design was ready for testing.  It passed with flying colors and Onsite Safety Systems was born.

A patent application was filed later that fall.  Now, eight years later, Onsite Safety is one of the leading temporary fall protection companies.

It is said that, "necessity is the mother of invention."  Robb would argue that, "poverty is the mother of invention."  Having grown up in a middle income family, there was never enough money for all the things that one could wish for, this lead to many home made solutions.

One very expensive piece of equipment used in film making is the camera dolly which can cost upwards to $100,000.  Since he could not afford to buy one, he invented his own.  This hydraulic actuated dolly/crane can lift cameraman and camera upwards to 8' in height while rolling along as smooth as glass.
