Every boat captain should keep a log. No ifs, ands, or buts, about it. Logs are where you store the history of your boating. Captain Robb Hawks is a USCG Licensed Captain who discovered he couldn't find a Captain's log that met his needs. So, he created his own! This log is designed for 50 voyages. Each voyage is logged onto two pages. The first page is the vessel's pre-voyage inspection form. Yeah, I know, most boaters never bother with this. But, every licensed captain knows that he must have a record of inspection for every time he takes to the water. What is it that he knows that the average boater does not? First and foremost, a complete inspection will reduce the possibility of getting out on the water and having a failure or emergency. Secondly, he knows that if there should be an incident on board his vessel and that there is no record of inspection, then he the skipper of the vessel will not only be liable, but can be found negligent.
